The Lough Rea Hotel and Spa is one of the most highly recommended and well known wedding venues in Galway. Situated just outside the quaint town of Loughrea overlooking Loughrea Lake.

A warm welcome awaits you on arrival to the hotel. Guests can now enjoy The Roof Top Garden Bar and sky lounge, which boasts panoramic views of Loughrea Lake and the Galway Country side. The Roof Top Garden is also the perfect place to have a family BBQ the day after your wedding while you relax and unwind on your first day together as a married couple.

The De Dannan Suite is the hotels beautiful ballroom with its own bar. This newly refurbished room boasts Murano glass chandeliers, luxurious velvet drapery, and interchangeable lighting to suit the theme of our wedding. Banqueting tables are dressed in crisp white linen and chiavari chairs.

Private ceremonies and blessings can take place in the Slieve Aughty. Set in an oasis of calm, our exquisite Shore Island Spa promises an experience of complete relaxation and indulgence bridal party packages available for hair and makeup with champagne breakfast.

Q: How many guests can fit in the ballroom?
A: Our ballroom can fit between 300 and 350 guests on round tables, and 350 plus using long tables.

Q: What is included in the packages?
A: Included in all of our packages is everything from Food, Décor and even entertainment on arrival. While you can always add in extra’s we are always happy to make the packages as personal to you and what you want. You are not stuck to everything that’s in the package of your choice.

Q: How do I calculate the total price of my wedding and do you offer payment plans?
A: You will see the payment plan at the bottom of your contract. You calculate the price of your package x by the estimated number of guests attending. We ask for 80% of the over all bill before the wedding day. The payments begin 6 months out from your wedding, then 3 months and finally 1 month. However, if you want to pay more/ before that’s completely up to you. You can pay by bank transfer, by pay by link or in person at reception.



Q: What is the deposit/cancellation Policy?
A: You can provisionally hold a date for 2 weeks without payment. To confirm the date we ask for a 1,000 euro deposit which officially holds the wedding. To confirm, we draw up the contracts, once they’re signed the wedding is officially confirmed. You will find all details of our cancellation policy in the ‘terms and conditions’ you will receive along with your contract. The deposit is non-refundable.

Q: When does the deposit need to be paid?
A: We will need the deposit 2 weeks after you provisionally hold your date. You will receive a reminder from us before we release the date should you no longer need it.

Q: What time is Check in/ Check out?
A: Check in is from 3pm onwards, and check out is from Midday. Breakfast 7am – 11:00am.

Q: How many rooms can we hold for our wedding?
A: We have 92 rooms in total in the hotel. You will be given a block of rooms with a wedding rate. Along with the rooms you will be given complimentary rooms. The Bridal Suite plus a number of bedrooms for the night of the wedding only. Wedding room rates vary throughout the year and are always lower than leisure rates. We do not allocate all 92 rooms for weddings. All rooms not named 6 weeks out from your wedding will be released to the public. We will let you know before we release them and you can obtain your rooming list at any time – just ask your wedding coordinator 😊

Q: What areas are ours on our wedding day?
A: You will have full access to the Ballroom, Piano Foyer and Kids room. You have your own bar for the reception in the Piano Foyer and then for Dinner in the Ballroom. The smoking area is located just outside the Ballroom. Male, Female and Accessible Bathrooms are located just outside the Piano Foyer.

Q: Do you have allocated spaces for Civil Ceremonies?
A: Yes, for bigger ceremonies we hold them in the second half of the Ballroom. We can hold ceremonies on the rooftop but it is weather dependent and can also hold only about 50 guests in total.



Q: Is there somewhere in the hotel we can get ready the morning of the Wedding?
A: Yes, the Slieve Aughty Suite on the 4th floor is ideal for getting ready. There is a big window which provides natural light for Hair and Make-up. There is also loads of room for you and your Bridal Party. Alternatively, if there is no wedding the night before we will try and allocate you the Bridal Suite. We also have a range of inter-connecting bedrooms which can also be ideal.

Q: Do you have a wedding car at the hotel?
A: Yes, we have a wedding car available. To add the wedding car to your package its 300 euro. The car will pick the Bride or Groom (just one) up from the hotel or from the house, take her to the ceremony and then take you both for pictures and back to the hotel.

Q: When does our Wedding tasting take place?
A: Your tasting takes place about a month out from the wedding. We hold tastings Monday to Thursday from about 5pm onwards. You will also taste and try your wedding wine this night. The tasting is complimentary for the wedding couple. For additional guests they are charged 45 euro per person.


Q: When do you need the final numbers and table plan?
A: We will ask for your final numbers at least a week before the wedding. Please be advised – once we get your final number this is the amount of meals chef will prep for, therefore we cannot drop the price of guests you are paying for, should you have drop-outs the day of the wedding. We will also need your table plan as well. We will print your table plan for you.

Q: What are our options For Day 2?
A: We can host BBQ and Finger food on the rooftop, Brasserie Garden or Lir Bar. If the Piano Foyer is free (no wedding or conference the day after) you are also more than welcome to use this area again. Menu prices are in the brochure. You can also have a one-man band/Dj on the rooftop etc. They can play until 11pm on the roof.
