  • 5 Creative Ways to Personalise your Wedding Vows!

Personalising your wedding vows adds a heartfelt and unique touch to your ceremony. Here are 5 creative ways to make your vows truly yours: 1. Incorporate Your Love Story Reflect on key milestones: Talk about how you met, your first date, or the moment you knew they were "the one." Add inside jokes: Include a funny or sweet anecdote that captures your relationship’s personality. Highlight shared dreams: Mention your hopes for the future together, like adventures you’ll share or goals you’ll achieve. 2. Use a Theme or Metaphor Draw comparisons: For example, if you both love the ocean, use nautical imagery like “You’re my anchor and my guiding star.” Tie in shared interests: Whether it’s sports, music, or movies, incorporate references that reflect your common passions. Create a recurring phrase: End each section with a meaningful line, like “With you, I am home.” 3. Include Promises Unique to Your Relationship Be specific: Instead of general promises, tailor your commitments (e.g., “I promise to always try your experimental recipes, even the burnt ones”). Acknowledge quirks: Embrace their little habits and vow to love them for who they are. Balance serious and lighthearted: Combine profound declarations with playful promises for a touching and fun mix. 4. Draw Inspiration from Literature, Music, or Film Quote a favorite book or song: Use lines that resonate with your relationship, like lyrics from your song or a romantic quote. Write your vows as poetry: Create a verse that reflects your feelings in a rhythmic or lyrical way. Reference meaningful media: Mention characters or scenes from films you both love, tying them to your bond. 5. Make It Interactive or Collaborative Start with “fill-in-the-blanks”: Finish sentences like “I fell in love with you because…” or “You make me feel…” Write complementary vows: Coordinate themes or formats with your partner so your vows feel connected. Add a surprise: Include a secret message, memory, or promise they’ll hear for the first time during the ceremony. Personalized vows showcase your love in an authentic and memorable way. Don’t be afraid to be vulnerable, humorous, or creative—it’s your love story, after all! Happy vow planning! The WEDFEST Team xxxx

  • 5 tips to help you pick the most gorgeous wedding flowers

Choosing wedding flowers is a wonderful part of the planning process, and they can add so much to the overall ambiance and personality of your day. Here are five tips to help you pick the perfect blooms for your wedding: 1. Consider the Season Tip : Opt for flowers that are in season, as they’ll be fresher, more readily available, and often more affordable. Examples : Spring weddings could feature peonies and tulips, summer could have roses and hydrangeas, fall might include dahlias and sunflowers, and winter weddings could shine with amaryllis and holly. 2. Match the Colour Palette Tip : Use your wedding color scheme as a guide to help you choose flowers that complement the overall aesthetic. Suggestions : If you’re going for pastels, consider roses, and lilacs. For a bold look, try deep-coloured dahlias, orchids, or even dark foliage. 3. Think About Flower Meaning and Symbolism Tip : Many couples enjoy choosing flowers that have symbolic meanings, which can add sentimental value to the arrangements. Examples : Roses symbolise love, peonies represent happiness, lilies signify purity, and baby’s breath means everlasting love. 4. Budget Wisely Tip : Flowers can vary greatly in price, so prioritize your favorites for key areas (like bouquets and centerpieces) and consider more affordable options for fillers. Advice : Greenery and less expensive blooms like carnations or chrysanthemums can add volume without breaking the bank. 5. Consider Your Venue and Theme Tip : Let the wedding location and style guide your flower choices for a cohesive look. Ideas : A rustic outdoor venue might look beautiful with wildflowers and eucalyptus, while a more formal, indoor space might suit elegant roses, lilies, or orchids. By keeping these tips in mind, you can create a floral design that enhances your wedding atmosphere and brings your vision to life! Happy Flower Shopping! The WEDFEST Team xxx

  • 5 Tips for Choosing the Perfect Band or DJ for Your Wedding

Finding the right music for your wedding reception is essential—it sets the mood, energises the crowd, and makes for unforgettable memories. Here’s a guide with five key tips to help you choose between a live band and a DJ, and ensure your celebration hits all the right notes! 1. Define the Vibe You Want Before diving into specifics, think about the overall vibe you want for your wedding. A live band brings an energetic, personalized feel, perfect for vintage or romantic themes. DJs, on the other hand, offer versatility and a wider range of genres, which can be a great fit for contemporary and laid-back receptions. Picture the kind of dance floor atmosphere you want: do you imagine people dancing to classic hits or live music? 2. Check Out Their Repertoire and Flexibility Whether you’re leaning toward a band or a DJ, it’s important to know what music they can actually deliver. Make sure they’re willing to learn any special requests (such as your first dance song). For bands, attend a live performance if possible. For DJs, ask if they have experience mixing different genres or reading the crowd to adapt the playlist on the spot. 3. Consider the Venue's Space and Sound Limitations Each venue has its own set of rules and acoustics to think about. Bands usually need more space and equipment setup, so make sure your venue can accommodate them without taking up too much room on the dance floor. Some venues also have sound restrictions, especially outdoor spaces, which can affect volume limits. Check with your venue in advance to avoid any last-minute surprises. 4. Set a Realistic Budget Bands typically cost more than DJs, due to the number of members and equipment involved. Determine your budget early and be clear with potential performers about it so you can get an accurate quote upfront. A great DJ may cost as much as a smaller band, so compare what you’ll get with each option and decide which works best for you. Also, look into any additional costs, such as travel or overtime fees, which can vary widely. 5. Prioritise Personality and Professionalism The vibe and personality of the band or DJ are as important as their music selection. Your guests will be interacting with them, so it’s worth meeting them beforehand to gauge their style and professionalism. A bandleader or DJ with good energy and crowd-management skills will keep the dance floor alive. And professionalism counts—look for prompt responses, clear communication, and a well-organised agreement. Whether you go with a band or DJ, prioritise what will keep your guests moving and create the experience you envision. The right music provider will not only understand your style but will also make your day feel uniquely yours. Happy planning! 🎶 The WEDFEST Team xxx

  • 5 Must-Know Tips for Choosing Your Dream Bridal Party

Choosing a bridal party is a big decision! Here are five tips to help you pick the right group of people to stand by your side on your special day: 1. Prioritise Loyalty and Support Choose people who have been there for you through thick and thin and who you trust implicitly. Weddings can be stressful, so you’ll want a bridal party that will support you emotionally and help with any tasks. 2. Consider Group Dynamics Think about how well the people you're considering will get along with each other. A bridal party that clicks can make for a more enjoyable experience, not only for you but for everyone involved in wedding planning and events. 3. Don’t Feel Obligated by Tradition or Pressure It’s okay not to include someone just because they’re a family member or were in your friend’s wedding party. Choose people who genuinely mean the most to you and who you envision being a lasting part of your life. 4. Communicate Responsibilities Clearly Make sure that those you select understand the time, financial, and emotional commitments involved. Being part of a bridal party can be demanding, so it’s fair to discuss expectations from the start. 5. Size Doesn’t Have to Match Your Partner’s Side There’s no rule that both sides of the aisle need to be even. Choose the people who matter to you most, regardless of the number, and know that you can always get creative with arrangements if your sides don’t match. Selecting your bridal party thoughtfully will help set a supportive, joyous tone for your wedding! Thanks for reading, The WEDFEST Team xxx

  • How to Pick the Perfect Wedding Band: 5 Tips for an Unforgettable Day

    1. Choose a Band That Matches Your Wedding Style Consider the theme and vibe of your wedding when picking a band. If you're going for a formal, elegant wedding, a jazz band or classical ensemble may suit the atmosphere. For a casual, outdoor wedding, a folk or acoustic band might be a better fit. The band should reflect the tone of your event. 2. Listen to Demos and Watch Live Performances Before booking a band, listen to their music and, if possible, see them perform live. Check out their videos, online demos, or attend one of their gigs to get a feel for their stage presence, energy, and ability to engage a crowd. This will give you confidence in their ability to entertain your guests. At WEDFEST, we have live bands playing on the main stage all day. The perfect event to scope out what wedding band you want for your big day. 3. Consider Their Musical Range Pick a band that can cater to a wide range of musical tastes. Your guest list likely includes people from different age groups, so ensure the band can play various genres—from classic hits to modern favorites. A versatile band that can adjust their setlist to keep everyone on the dance floor is a great choice. 4. Check Reviews and Get Recommendations Look at reviews from previous clients to gauge the band's professionalism and performance quality. Personal recommendations from friends, family, or your wedding planner can also be valuable. Positive reviews and word-of-mouth endorsements will help you avoid any potential issues. 5. Confirm Logistics and Contract Details Make sure to iron out all the important details like the band's performance length, set breaks, equipment needs, and any additional costs (e.g., travel fees or overtime). Have everything in writing with a clear contract, so you know exactly what to expect on your wedding day. Following these tips will help you choose a wedding band that keeps the celebration lively and memorable for everyone. Thanks for reading, The WEDFEST Team xxx

  • 5 Tips for Picking Out Your Wedding Cake

Your wedding cake isn’t just a dessert; it’s a beautiful centrepiece that reflects your style and adds sweetness to your special day. From flavor combinations to design, choosing the perfect wedding cake involves more than just taste. Here are five tips to help you pick out a cake that’s both stunning and delicious. 1. Start with Your Wedding Theme Your wedding cake should align with the overall theme and style of your wedding. Whether your day is rustic, elegant, modern, or whimsical, the cake design can tie in colors, textures, and decorative elements from your decor. Talk to your baker about incorporating aspects like florals, lace designs, or metallic accents that match your wedding vibe. Pro tip: Bring inspiration photos, such as your invitation design, flower arrangements, or colour palette, to help your baker design a cohesive look. 2. Choose the Right Size The size of your wedding cake depends on how many guests you’re serving. As a general rule, a three-tier cake typically serves 50-100 guests, while five tiers can serve up to 200 guests or more. If you want an elaborate design but don’t need that much cake, consider incorporating fake tiers for height and drama without excess. Pro tip: If you're on a budget, consider a smaller display cake for photos and cutting, then serve guests from a sheet cake or cupcakes made with the same flavours. For guests with allergies, a great way to include them is by having allergen friendly cupcakes. 3. Prioritize Flavor While the design is important, taste is what your guests will remember most. Schedule a tasting with your baker to try different flavor combinations. You can stick to classic choices like vanilla, chocolate, or red velvet, or go for more unique options like lemon, salted caramel, or even seasonal fruit flavors. Don’t be afraid to mix and match flavours between layers. Pro tip: Offer two or more flavours to give your guests variety. Popular combinations include chocolate with raspberry filling or vanilla cake with passionfruit buttercream. 4. Consider Your Wedding Season Your cake’s ingredients and design should be suitable for the season. For example, a heavy buttercream cake may not hold up well in a hot, outdoor summer wedding, while fresh berry fillings are perfect for spring. Fondant is more durable in warm weather, while buttercream or whipped cream is ideal for cooler temperatures. Pro tip: If your wedding is outdoors, ask your baker how to keep your cake fresh and beautiful. Consider displaying the cake just before cutting to avoid any melting issues. 5. Personalise It Add special touches to make your cake unique and personal to you as a couple. Whether it’s incorporating your favourite flavours, using a family recipe, or adding a custom cake topper, personalisation will make your cake feel even more meaningful. You could even add elements from your love story, such as a design inspired by your engagement or hobbies you share. Pro tip: Include a meaningful cake topper, like your initials or a symbol of something significant to your relationship, to add that final personal touch. With these tips, you’ll be well on your way to choosing a wedding cake that not only looks stunning but also tastes delicious. Your cake will be a sweet highlight of your celebration, leaving you and your guests with happy memories! Happy cake hunting! The WEDFEST Team xxx

  • How WEDFEST was born...

Hey! I'm Justin and welcome to WEDFEST. I have been a wedding supplier for more than a decade. I ran an extremely successful wedding band, we played 100's of weddings through out Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Italy and even New York! We got so busy I needed more acts to cover all the enquiries so I started an agency, Partybands.ie . We still book 100's of weddings each year and look after some of the best wedding bands & DJ's in Ireland. A few years ago I attended a wedding expo that was so bad only 14 people turned up! Everyone at the show had already booked or enquired with my business, there was no new customers or leads at all. I was so p*ssed off that I had spent my hard earned cash to attend this show when I was already doing a better job marketing my services on my own. It was a lot of money wasted! I decided that I should just do my own show and offer something fair and of proper value to the bands and other wedding suppliers in the area.  Wedfest was born!   Our festival style expo has grown massively and been an amazing success with 100's of wedding couples attending each show. Every event has nearly 100 wedding suppliers, bands, DJ's and an amazing fashion show. All of the marketing has been driven via online advertising and social media to direct all the wedding couples to buy tickets at wedfest.ie . This website has thousands of visitors each year. More than 20,000! For years I could never find a wedding listing website that was affordable, offered an even playing field and gave help and support to grow my wedding business. So I decided to build one myself. We aim to build an online directory where suppliers can showcase their services, get the best leads and wedding enquiries via a tailored search feature - not getting enquiries for work the other end of the country and not suited to their business. A place where suppliers can network, work with each other and connect with other wedding professionals via an online community. And somewhere to get help, advice and support via our business hub, so you can concentrate on doing what you do best!   Check out what some of our suppliers and couples have been saying about us! Partybands.ie has more 5 star Google reviews than any other entertainment agency in Ireland. Wedfest has more 5 star google reviews than any other wedding expo show or wedding listing site in Ireland! Thanks for reading, The WEDFEST Team xxx

  • Top 5 Things to Consider When Meeting with Wedding Suppliers

Meeting with potential wedding suppliers—whether it’s a florist, photographer, or venue —is an important step in making your big day perfect. These vendors will help bring your vision to life, so it’s crucial to know what to ask and look for during your consultations. Here are five essential tips to ensure you're hiring the right professionals for your wedding. 1. Do Your Homework Beforehand Before meeting with any suppliers, research their work, read reviews, and look through their portfolios. This will give you a sense of their style, experience, and reliability. It’s also helpful to come prepared with questions and examples of what you like. The more informed you are, the smoother your consultation will go. What to look for: Consistent positive reviews, a portfolio that aligns with your style, and experience with weddings of your size and type. 2. Communicate Your Vision Clearly When meeting with suppliers, be clear about your wedding theme, color scheme, budget, and must-haves. Whether it’s the specific style of floral arrangements or the kind of photos you want, giving them a clear idea of your vision helps ensure they can deliver what you’re looking for. Suppliers are there to help bring your ideas to life, but they need a strong understanding of your expectations. What to look for: Suppliers who listen to your ideas, provide thoughtful suggestions, and offer creative solutions. 3. Discuss Logistics and Availability Confirm that the supplier is available on your wedding date and ask about their schedule leading up to and during your wedding day. It’s important to know how many other events they’ll be handling around the same time to ensure they can give your wedding the attention it deserves. Also, discuss logistical details like setup times, delivery, and breakdown after the event. What to look for: Flexibility, clear communication about availability, and a well-defined plan for the day-of logistics. 4. Understand Pricing and Contracts Make sure you fully understand the pricing structure before committing. Ask for a breakdown of costs and any additional fees, such as overtime charges, travel expenses, or corkage fees for venues. Get everything in writing, including what’s included in their service packages, timelines, and deposit requirements. A detailed contract helps avoid any surprises later on. What to look for: Transparency in pricing, clear terms in the contract, and flexibility to fit your budget. 5. Gauge Their Professionalism and Compatibility You’ll be working closely with your suppliers leading up to the wedding and on the big day itself, so it’s essential to feel comfortable with them. Pay attention to how they communicate, respond to your questions, and handle any concerns. A professional, yet approachable vendor will make the entire process much more enjoyable and stress-free. What to look for: A supplier who is organised, punctual, responsive, and someone you feel comfortable trusting with your wedding. By following these tips, you'll be able to meet with wedding suppliers confidently and make informed decisions that suit your wedding needs. Remember, finding the right vendor is about more than just talent—it’s about finding someone who understands your vision and can execute it flawlessly. Good luck with your supplier meetings! • 5 Essential Tips for Newly Engaged Couples Planning Their Wedding

Congratulations on your engagement! The excitement of saying "yes" to the love of your life is an incredible feeling, but now the next big step begins—planning your dream wedding! Whether you're envisioning a small, intimate gathering or a grand celebration, the process can feel overwhelming at first. But don’t worry! Here are five essential tips to help you stay organized, stress-free, and enjoy the journey from engagement to "I do." 1. Set Your Priorities Early Before diving into the details, take some time as a couple to discuss what’s most important to you. Is it the venue, the guest list, the food, or the overall vibe? Agreeing on your top priorities will help guide your decision-making and allocate your budget effectively. For example, if photography is key, you might want to splurge there while scaling back on other areas like décor. Pro tip: Have a few non-negotiables, but stay flexible on the less important details! 2. Create a Realistic Budget One of the first (and sometimes most challenging) steps is determining your wedding budget. Get clear on what you can comfortably spend, and remember to include all aspects—venue, suppliers, bridal and menswear, gifts, and even the honeymoon. It’s also a good idea to have a buffer for unexpected costs that may arise. Pro tip: Use a wedding budget planner or spreadsheet to track expenses and avoid going overboard. 3. Get Organized with a Timeline Weddings involve a lot, so staying organised is crucial. Create a planning timeline with key deadlines, like when to book your venue, hire suppliers, and send out invitations. You can find general timelines online, but be sure to adapt it to your wedding date and specific needs. Pro tip: Consider using wedding planning tools or apps to manage tasks and keep everything on track. 4. Choose Your suppliers Wisely The right suppliers can make or break your wedding experience. Take time to research photographers, videographers, florists, and entertainment. Read testimonials, schedule meetings, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Your suppliers should understand your vision and be someone you trust to bring it to life. Pro tip: Book your top vendors early—especially for popular wedding seasons—as they can book up quickly. 5. Enjoy the Journey Together Planning a wedding can be stressful at times, but it’s also a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Make sure to pause and enjoy it. Plan date nights where you don't talk about wedding details, celebrate the small milestones, and remember that this journey is about celebrating your love and commitment. Pro tip: Don’t be afraid to delegate tasks to friends, family, or even hire a wedding planner if you need extra support! By following these essential tips, you’ll be well on your way to planning a beautiful, stress-free wedding day. Remember, your wedding is about celebrating your unique love story, so have fun and make it as special as you are! Happy planning! The WEDFEST Team xxx
