About Martinstown House

Martinstown House is a beautiful country house built in the 1830s available for wedding celebrations and ceremonies on an exclusive basis. Your guests will have total privacy in 130 acres of private park and farm lands, with mature woods and a stunning Walled Garden. There are seven elegant and comfortable bedrooms in the main house, and a further four bedrooms in the Stone Yard. We also have a glamping village onsite with 15 bell tents, 5 stable rooms, and a shepherd's hut.

Food

We take huge pride in our food at Martinstown House. We are so lucky to have so many local suppliers for our produce and meat. Most of our herbs come from our own Walled Garden, and fish is fresh from the market in Howth. Our chef has trained in the Ballymaloe Cookery School in Cork, Rick Stein's in Padstow, and in Goa, India.

Reception

Your beautiful reception can take place in any number of locations. The most popular site is on our front lawn with our new container bar, The Sipping Container, which is sheltered from the elements with a natural stretch tent connected to bog oak logs that are thousands of years old. Our marquee is nestled in the Walled Garden and can seat 240+. We are also happy to be able to lend you our vintage 1966 VW Campervan which can be used on site however you wish. Inside the house, our stunning Drawing Room can accommodate parties of up to 50 in elegant and intimate surroundings.

Ceremony Spaces

Martinstown House is licensed by the HSE to hold civil ceremonies and are delighted to host alternative weddings. We have beautiful settings in both the Walled Garden and in the Woodlands ceremony area surrounding the house. This beautiful space created out of the ruins of the original greenhouse, it has a seating capacity of 330, all under the watchful eye of a vast 130 feet tall Californian Coastal Redwood tree. The building is constructed out of reclaimed and repurposed materials, the glass chandelier came out of a big house in Co West Meath, the tin roof is off an Army building on the Curragh that was burnt down in the 1950's. It is fully fitted out for ceremonies with it's own PA system. We have had great success with Humanist, Spiritualist, and Interfaith ceremonies. There are a number of local country churches close by of all denominations, each with their own character and settings.

Your wedding at Martinstown House is made up of thousands of individual moments, the cumulation of a thousand decisions, big and small. The day is always a blur of memories, of dancing, of smiles, of hugs, of old friends and new family, but it is the tiny moments that you will remember most clearly. Catching someone's eye at just the right moment of the speech and the tears of silent laughter that ensue. Holding your partner's hand as you walk up together for the first dance. Sitting down next to your best friend and breathing a second whilst the whole day washes over you. The warmth of the fires, the pleasure of delicious food. At Martinstown House we strive to create those moments.

The Wedding Dressed Dinner

Couples who celebrate their wedding with us will also be invited back for The Wedding Dressed Dinner, a dinner party for couples to don their suits and wedding dresses once again! Cocktails in the Drawing Room, photos on the grounds, and pints around the fire make for a gorgeous evening.

“I don’t think there are enough adjectives in the world that will adequately capture how wonderful Martinstown House and all the staff actually are. We viewed Martinstown as a wedding venue option and immediately cancelled all other viewings! From the moment we drove up the driveway I had a good feeling and by the time we left we knew that this was the place we wanted to get married. Martinstown has the kind of authentic, natural charm that if you could bottle you’d be a millionaire. From the house itself to the ceremony space, the marquee to the grounds, each space is uniquely beautiful, rustic and utterly charming. It felt like our home away from home for our wedding weekend and has an uncanny ability to be unfalteringly professional while making you feel so completely at ease and comfortable. The vibes from the off were of a relaxed, family run business which it absolutely is. but the word relaxed does not extend to the unreal level of organisation and planning that went into our day. The planning process was unbelievably smooth with Jim and Edward on top of absolutely everything and always at the other end of an email for any question query or concern. It was a joy to work with them both and they are truly masters of their craft. And on the day itself, every tiny detail was taken care of without us having to worry about a thing meaning we could truly relax and enjoy without any stress. The food! Can’t say enough good things here – from the breakfast to pre wedding sandwiches and then the main wedding meal – every morsel was prepared with loving care and attention and was absolutely delicious! So many of our guests have said it was the best wedding menu they have tasted! I could go on and on but I’ll leave with a huge thank you to Jim, Edward and the entire Martinstown Team for welcoming us and entertaining us for the weekend, giving us the most perfect wedding of our dreams and an experience we will hold in our hearts for years to come.”
